The Allameh Tabatabai University’s Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences will host the event on September 29.
“Arbaeen; Roadmap to Globalization of Husseini Culture” is the motto of this year’s conference.
It will be organized by the Allameh Tabatabai University in cooperation with the Cultural and Educational Committee of Iran’s Arbaeen Central Headquarters.
The organizers have issued a call for papers, with the deadline for submitting abstracts set for August 21.
Those interested can submit the full papers to the secretariat of the conference not later than August 31.
The main themes of this year’s conference include: ‘political, social and communication capacities of Arbaeen’, ‘civilization-building capacities of Arbaeen’, ‘art and literary capacities of Arbaeen’, ‘Leadership and management capacities of Arbaeen’, and ‘resistance and epical capacities of Arbaeen’.

Arbaeen commemorates the 40th day of martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the third Shia imam, who was killed by the army of Yazid I in the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.

Arbaeen is one of the largest annual pilgrimages in the world, with millions of Shia Muslims from different countries walking to Karbala from various cities in Iraq and neighboring countries. The distance can range from 80 km to 500 km or more, depending on the starting point.
This year’s Arbaeen is expected to fall on August 25, depending on the moonsighting.
